Four Seasons - Residences Lobby

The Four Seasons Residences originally had a lobby with numerous design flaws, including a stack effect down the elevator core that brought in aggressive winds from outside and the inability to stay warm in the winter. These were our main tasks with the redesign, but the client (a board comprised of condo owners in the building) also wanted a refresh of the finishes. They hired an interior designer for us to collaborate with so we didn’t have any control over the finishes. However, we found opportunities for design by dropping the ceiling with an added cove, adding wood design elements for a cozier feel inside, and designing the new elongated vestibule and exterior entry. The larger vestibule had the effect of a more prominent entrance, but more importantly, allowed the doors to have a delay from one to the other that helped stop both of the client’s original concerns. The result of this collaboration, after learning more about everything required to be reviewed in submittals, was an equally practical and beautiful lobby.
