A circus-themed brewery as my first project was not what I expected, but it was an incredible journey. When I joined the Arrow B team they already had a full floor plan confirmed with the client so I had a framework to work within as we started the interior design. The circus theme came from the client’s family history, so we had beautiful photographs to take inspiration from. I was entrusted with selecting most of the finishes, all of the lighting, and even some of the decor. I found sources for the vintage circus posters, all the components for the custom lion newel post booths, and the special light fixtures. During construction, I did regular site visits for OAC meetings to verify details such as wall layout, electrical box locations, and finishes. Finally, at the end of the process, my principal and I had the job of installing the custom circus tent following the meticulous details we had drawn out. I tied every single knot on the tent, including all of the hooks to hang the lights. Seeing the first drawing set I completed come to life and even being involved in the finishing touches was an incredible process.
